Beautiful Rottweiler Sisters – Whisper and Willow

by Lesley Zoromski on June 18, 2019

These two beautiful rotties are not actual blood sisters, but they are referred to as siblings as they live in the same house by the same owners.  The owners are returning customers. They did a pastel a few years ago of two other rottweiler dogs which can be found in the past posts. This pastel was a bit of a challenge as I did not have a photo of an environment to place them together.  In addition each dog was in separate photos.  However, the time of day was the same so the lighting was uniform on each dog and that is important.  This pastel is 13.5″ x  19.5″.

I took photos of my work along the way to see the progression.

Perfect for Hump Day – Grover the Camel

by Lesley Zoromski on May 15, 2019

Grover

Heather Beck is the Founder of  K9 Lifeline and  the Canine, Cattle and Camel Ranch.  We met at an annual conference for the International Association of Canine Professionals and got to talking about her ranch,  which I hope to one day visit.  I was very intrigued by the camel photos she has posted over the years and I asked if I could have a photo to try a portrait of one of of them.   I was pretty happy with the way things turned out as I’m much more accustomed to creating portraits of dogs, but are both hairy and have great eyes so I wasn’t too worried.

Heather has accomplished so many wonderful things, I wanted to share this link if you are interested in checking out this amazing and wonderful women!

Maverick – The Belgian Malinois

by Lesley Zoromski on May 6, 2019

Graphite of Maverick

In 2011 I offered to do a custom portrait for a silent auction for  the International Association of Canine Professionals.  The highest bidder would get a custom portrait of their own dog.  A women bid and won.   We started the process of communicating through emails, but a photo was never photo was decided upon by the lady.   Years went by and now we are at 2019.  She contacted me and asked did I remembered her and would I still honor her winning bid.   Of course I new exactly who she was and also I was happy to honor the bid.   At this point she provided an excellent photo which makes things easier for me!  Here is handsome boy, Maverick.

Doberman Bambi

by Lesley Zoromski on December 22, 2018

Bambi is a beautiful doberman that lives in Michigan with her family on a lake.  If this sounds familiar it is because several posts before this I wrote about a dachshund, named Thumbelina  that lived at the same place!  Bambi was done as a color pencil/ watercolor painting to match her “sister’s” piece.

Carson the Winery Dog

by Lesley Zoromski on December 22, 2018

This sweet dog lived a life of leisure with his owners in Goleta, California.   Carson’s joyful romps though the vineyard during the day resulted in a happy relaxed dog at night.  In this portrait I imagine him remembering his fun times running through the fields.  He has now passed, but I’m sure he always knew how much he was loved.  This color pencil/ watercolor painting was done as a Christmas gift for Carson’s owners by their parents.

Sweet Thumblina

May 5, 2018

This portrait is different than my typical color pencil/water color pieces as you can see.  The owner really wanted to remember the sweet look in her mini dachshund’s eyes at this particular moment as she snuggled in the blankets.   Apparently, Thumblina was as sweet as she looks! “Lesley,  I can not thank you enough! It […]

Little Peanut

April 21, 2018

I received a call a few months back asking if I still did dog portraits.  After I confirmed that yes, indeed, I still do the portraits, the man was relieved and happy!  He hired me years ago to do two portraits for he and his wife.  He had lost my contact information and was searching […]
